BOYS SOCCER

Burris defeated Liberty Christian 5-0 in the Hamilton Heights Sectional quarterfinals. Vikaas Xavier got the Owls out to a 4-0 after 33 minutes with three goals, the last two of which came on penalty kicks. Josh Monroe added a goal and two assists, while Jarod Saxberg had a goal and an assist. Burris (9-4-2) advances to face Hamilton Heights in the semifinals Wednesday.

VOLLEYBALL

Chloe Stitt and Kaylee Nichols put down nine kills apiece as Delta rolled to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-6) victory over Cowan. Gabby Zhunda added 12 digs for the Eagles. Kalynn Sours had 12 digs for the Blackhawks.

Katarina DiBiasio had 15 kills and 10 digs to help Monroe Central improve to 21-5 after taking down Randolph Southern 3-0 (25-2, 25-11, 25-14). Morgan Haney added 10 digs and Zoee Kear 22 assists, eight digs and six kills.

Paced by 12 kills from Skyler VanNote, Wapahani rolled to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-7, 25-11) win over Winchester. Hannah Smith added 17 digs for the Raiders. Emily White had 16 digs for the Golden Falcons.

UNDERCLASS

JUNIOR VARSITY

Football

Monroe Central defeated Union County 14-12 to improve to 6-0. Keegan Kane had a rushing touchdown, while Kasey Conatser threw a 2-point conversion Zaine Pollard-Kennedy. Brandon Poole returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown.

Blackford lost to Alexandria 42-6. Dylan Shroyer scored the only touchdown while rushing for 48 yards and Shane Elam caught three passes for 48 yards to lead the offense. Devon Anderson had eight tackles to lead the defense.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Cross Country

Selma’s girls team earned a 19-44 win over Cowan, as Selma’s Alyssa Jordan won the race in 13:59. Selma boys also beat Cowan 24-45 behind a second-place finish from Sofani Buck, who was second in 11:09.
