Avarie Powell had 17 kills and three blocks to lead New Castle past Pendleton Heights 25-16, 25-13, 25-15. Cecily Jester added seven kills and nine digs, while Peighton Barber had 33 assists and nine digs.
Monroe Central defeated Liberty Christian 25-9, 25-23, 18-25, 25-16. Katarina DiBiasio had 19 kills to lead the Golden Bears’ offense, while Morgan Haney covered the backcourt with 20 digs.
Wapahani swept Blackford 25-12, 25-2, 25-10. Erin Roach and Courtney Dragoo led the Raiders’ serving game, each putting up four aces.
Jay County defeated South Adams 25-20, 25-23, 25-14 on Tuesday. The Patriots also defeated Blackford in three sets Monday (25-11, 25-13, 25-7) as Ava Kunkler had 11 kills.
DeAnn Kauffman had 20 kills and 18 digs to help Union take down Lincoln 22-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-14, 17-15.
Heritage Hall lost a close match to Colonial in four sets (11-25, 25-22, 25-21, 29-27). Aubrey Whitesell and Amber Taylor each had two assists for the Patriots, while Julia Keating pounded eight kills.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Monroe Central hosted a three-way meet against Cowan and Wes-Del, earning the win with 28 points. Cowan (32) finished second, Wes-Del (89) was third. The Blackhawks’ Seth Combs was the individual winner of the race, posting a time of 18 minutes, 22 seconds.
Blue River finished sixth out of 15 teams at the Connersville Invitational. The Vikings’ Zach Barkdull earned a ninth-place individual finish with a time of 18:10.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Monroe Central finished first in a triangular meet against Wes-Del and Cowan, earning 27 points, followed by Wes-Del (44) and Cowan (49). Aubrey Norris picked the individual win for the Golden Bears with a time of 21:20.
Blue River earned 10th place out of 15 teams at the Connersville Invitational. Logan McRoberts placed 24th individually for the Vikings.
BOYS TENNIS
No. 9 Delta redeemed a loss from earlier in the season to No. 7 Fort Wayne Carroll, winning 3-2. Jason Wegener won a third-set tiebreaker (10-7) at No. 3 singles to clinch the Eagles’ victory. Nick Bantz and Tannon Dishman claimed the Eagles’ win at No. 2 doubles 6-2, 7-5.
Yorktown defeated Central 4-1. The Tigers’ Mitchell Minniear and Abe Rosenthall maintained their undefeated record at No. 1 doubles, earning the 6-4, 6-2 win, while Ian Landwehr also remained unbeaten with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 1 singles. Kaes Petroviak and Boyd McCoy grabbed the Bearcats’ lone victory at No. 2 doubles 6-1, 6-2.
BOYS SOCCER
Heritage Hall topped Colonial 2-0. Jared Bond and Brayden Karnes each scored a goal for the Patriots.
GIRLS SOCCER
Delta tied Jay County 3-3. Sommer Wallace scored two goals for the Eagles, while goalkeeper Kortney Helm had 15 saves. The Patriots’ Gabbie Mann scored twice, and Hannah Phillips scored her first career goal on an assist from Lucy Laux.
Yorktown shut out Wapahani 20-0 at home. Erica Bergman and Sarah Beaty each had three goals for the Tigers. Ashley Williamson put up one goal and six assists for the home team, and Lizzie Smith had two goals and five assists.
Blackford fell to Huntington North 3-0. Catelynn Bennett had eight saves for the Bruins.
