Tuesday’s battle of the unbeatens between Yorktown and Wapahani volleyball just got even more intriguing.
Both the Tigers (8-0) and Raiders (6-0) rose to No. 1 in their respective classes in the latest IndianaPrepVolleyball.com media poll released Monday afternoon. The teams square off Tuesday night at Yorktown.
Yorktown, the top team in Class 3A after coming in at No. 2 last week, took care of business at its own invitational, beating 4A foes Center Grove and Roncalli while also defeating Chatard and Bellmont. Wapahani, which rose two spots in the 2A poll, also escaped unscathed at its weekend tournament, and that was after sweeping previous 2A No. 1 Wes-Del on Thursday. The Tigers have yet to lose a set this season, while the Raiders have lost only two.
Delta (6-2) moved up one spot to No. 4 in 3A after going 2-2 over the weekend, while Wes-Del (3-1) dropped to No. 2 in 2A. Monroe Central (4-4) moved up one spot to No. 8 in 2A.
Three other ECI schools received votes in their respective classes: Burris (2-4) in 2A and Cowan (5-3) and Daleville (2-3) in Class A.
